Apologetics - Mormonism - 2026 04 29
In our journey through understanding different faith traditions, we're challenged to equip ourselves with the most powerful tool available: God's Word. This teaching takes us deep into the heart of why biblical literacy matters when engaging with those in Mormonism. We discover that while Mormon missionaries may speak of Jesus, God, and salvation using familiar terminology, the definitions behind these words are fundamentally different from biblical Christianity. The Mormon Jesus is presented as a created being, the first spirit child of Elohim and Mary, with Satan as His brother—a stark contrast to the eternal, uncreated Christ revealed in John 1:1-3 and Colossians 1:15-17. The challenge before us isn't to mock or attack, but to ask thoughtful, loving questions that point back to Scripture. When we anchor every conversation in what the Bible actually says—asking clarifying questions like 'Who is God to you?' or 'What is the final authority for salvation?'—we create space for truth to emerge. This approach mirrors the wisdom of the Bereans, who searched the Scriptures daily to verify what they heard. The beauty of biblical truth is that it welcomes scrutiny; it stands firm under questioning because it's rooted in historical evidence, eyewitness testimony, and the unchanging character of God. As we encounter those from different faith backgrounds, we're reminded that our confidence doesn't come from winning arguments but from knowing that we know that we know the truth—and truth, presented in love, has the power to set people free.
